“The Day of the Wacko by MAREK KOTERSKI stirs emotions, evokes laughter or horror. He won decisively, further the stakes turned out to be much more even, but it is clear that the most important Polish director of the first quarter of the 21st century is WOJCIECH SMARZOWSKI. All his films nominated in the poll made it to the top ten: Clergy the biggest attendance success of Polish cinema after 1989, was second, followed by The Wedding, The Dark House, Rose.
Smarzowski was followed, with two films, by the winner of the first Polish Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, PAWEŁ PAWLIKOWSKI. However, voters preferred Cold War to the award-winning Ida.”
