The shooting of the film “Franz” directed by AGNIESZKA HOLLAND has started!

The production is being worked on by the team with which the director collaborated on the film “The Charlatan”.

The script was written by Mark Epstein and produced by Šárka Cimbalová, Sam Taylor and Mike Downey.

Franz tells the story of one of the world’s most famous writers as a “kaleidoscopic mosaic” from his birth in Prague in the late 19th century to his death in Berlin in 1924. The film is produced by Marlene Film Production and co-produced by Czech Anglo Productions.

The Prague production of the film “Franz” will last until the end of May. In addition to Prague, the film is to be shot in Germany. The production takes place just before the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Kafka, who died on June 3, 1924. The events in Prague in 2024 commemorate the 100th anniversary of the writer’s death.
